Creek Realignment

The
Fortson Creek realignment reconnected Fortson Creek to 1000
meters of abandonned side channel, important habitat for juvenile
Chinook salmon. Prior to restoration work, Forston creek flowed
directly from a series of wetland ponds and through a man-made
millpond before entering the south bank of the North Fork Stillaguamish
River. Large woody debris and native rock was added to the outfall
area, forcing the stream back into the side channel. This projects
reopens approximately one quarter mile of Chinook rearing and
spawning habitat.
